With over 35 years of construction experience as a licensed builder, Scott provides the Basebuild team with the greatest knowledge of building practices.

Scott Shafren founded Basebuild in 1991 (formerly known as S.R.Shafren Pty Ltd & UTP Constructions Pty Ltd). During this time, Scott has successfully overseen the completion of over 100 projects, including over 1000 residential dwellings, 15000m2 of commercial space, and a wide range of other projects.

As CEO of Basebuild and the Base group of companies, Scott is responsible for creating the company's vision and mission, promoting growth, and making high-level strategic decisions.

Outside work, Scott enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing squash, throwing darts and riding his electric mountain bike.

James takes a “hands-on” approach to Basebuild's current, future, and previous projects.

James joined Basebuild in 2010 and has 15-years experience in construction, being involved with all types of construction projects.

James is responsible for directing Basebuild's day-to-day operations, problem-solving, human resource management, managing contract administration, and liaising with key stakeholders while maintaining Basebuild's primary goal of providing safe, high-quality, and compliant buildings.

With the Basebuild Team, James has delivered a range of residential, multi-residential, commercial, remedial, retail, health and insurance projects, which feature the recent Stella on Hannell, Eaton on Union, Westend and The Huxley Apartments.

James has completed a Bachelor of Construction Management degree from the University of Newcastle, Graduate Diploma in Building Surveying, a Certificate IV in Building and Construction, Carpentry Trade and other TAFE and specialty qualifications.

Outside work amongst spending time with friends and family, playing Ice Hockey, riding mountain bikes and snow skiing.
